Umno pounces on PKR flap over Zaid
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 - Umno leaders took advantage yesterday of the problems which have surfaced in PKR this week over the role of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, by slamming the opposition party for being fractured and having no proper succession plan.
“I don’t know what reasons Zaid gave but his decision indicates that there are very serious internal problems in PKR,” said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
He accused PKR of only looking after the interests of its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“There is no leader who is being groomed in PKR to succeed Anwar. Zaid was seen as a threat by PKR officials like Azmin Ali and I think that’s why he left.”
In contrast, he feels that Umno has a very good policy of looking after up-and-coming leaders.
“Barisan National looks after its own,” explained the Umno Youth chief. - + selanjutnya
