Utusan’s training centre burgled
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Several cheques amounting to more than half a million ringgit as well as RM8,000 in cash belonging to Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad were stolen from a safe at the publication’s training and marketing centre in Jalan Chan Sow Lin this morning.
Cheras police district chief ACP Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim said the theft was detected at about 7.30am by a worker at the two-storey building when the worker discovered the safe containing vendor and agent payment cheques totalling RM584,000 open with signs of sawing and of being prised open.
“The worker entered the building at 5.45am before realising the safe was open a couple of hours later. It is believed that the theft took place between 8pm and 4am,” he told reporters at the scene today. - + selanjutnya
