Legally-binding accord badly needed - Najib
Danish police beating protesters who tried to enter the conference hall of the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009 in Copenhagen Wednesday. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is in Copenhagen, has called for legally-binding agreement for the future survival of mankind.
[...] Earlier yesterday, Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived in an executive jet at the Copenhagen International Airport at 6.45am (1.45pm Malaysian time).
The couple were received on arrival by Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas, Malaysian ambassador to Sweden Datuk Kamarudin Mustafa and senior government officials.
The summit is seeking strong political commitment from the heads of state and governments from nearly 200 countries to sign a meaningful deal to address the problem of global warming.
Najib is scheduled to deliver a speech today to present Malaysia’s commitments towards helping to reduce the effects of global warming.[ lagi ]
