Jais officer red-faced over wrong definition

KUALA LUMPUR: A religious department enforcement officer admitted in the close proximity (khalwat) case between celebrities Norman Hakim and Suhaiza Suhaimi or Memey that he had used wrong definitions in his sworn statement.

Kyairool Nizam Khairuddin said this when questioned by the couple’s counsel Fakrul Azman Abu Hassan at the Syariah Lower Court here yesterday.

The Selangor Religious Department (Jais) enforcement officer said he used the wrong word. He said he had used the word “hidden (tersembunyi)” when it should have been “covered (terselindung)” when explaining Section 29(1)(a) and Section 29(1)(b) of the Selangor Syariah Criminal Enactment 1995 under which the couple were charged.- + selanjutnya
