PR’s Sivakumar calls for assembly on Oct 28 as well

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — As expected, ousted Speaker V. Sivakumar will call for his own state assembly sitting this Oct 28, the very same day as Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan.

The Malaysian Insider learned today that this was decided by the state Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leadership at the Perak PAS headquarters late last night.

Former state executive councillor, DAP’s Nga Kor Ming said that Sivakumar would counter Ganesan’s notice on the assembly with one of his own.

Sivakumar has until the end of today to distribute his notices for state law stipulates that to convene an assembly, at least 14 days’ notice needs to be given to elected representatives.

However, Nga said that Sivakumar’s notice would only reach 49 of the state’s 59 lawmakers.

“The other 10 will not be notified of the sitting because seven of them are suspended representatives while three of them had earlier resigned as assemblymen,” Nga told The Malaysian Insider.- + selanjutnya
