Army wives at all levels get 10% cut

KUALA LUMPUR: The 10% salary cut for members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) to be credited into the wife’s bank account has been expanded to cover all levels up to the post of the MAF chief.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi said the move came into effect on Oct 1.

“If before this, the system was only imposed on the armed forces’ rank and file, from Oct 1 all officers from the rank of Second Lieutenant to MAF chief are subjected to the salary cut,” he said after attending the ministry’s Aidilfitri celebrations here on Monday.

Ahmad Zahid said the 10% salary cut would only be credited into the first wife’s account (for those with more than one wife), while the women officers off all ranks and files were exempted from the salary cut.- + selanjutnya
