Murugiah has no plan to set up new party
KUALA LUMPUR: Senator Datuk T. Murugiah has no plans to set up a new party or to bring his supporters over to the opposition even though he is now without a post in the People's Progressive Party (PPP).
Murugiah said yesterday that he and his supporters were still active supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN).
"My supporters agreed to be with me, therefore, I have no plans to set up a new party or to support the opposition. We will continue working with BN and support Datuk Seri Najib Razak's leadership.
"We agreed and accepted the decision by the Registrar of Societies (ROS). Meanwhile, we will make an appeal."
Murugiah was dismissed by the PPP's disciplinary board as a supreme council member of the party on a charge of misconduct.
When asked on his position as deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department , he said it was up to the prime minister to decide. -- Bernama
