MACC reopens graft case against ex-Penang DCM Fairus

GEORGE TOWN: State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has reopened the corruption case against former Deputy Penang Chief Minister (1) Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin following new collaborative evidence.

Investigations completed and papers have been submitted two headquarters for further action, State MACC director Latifah Md Yatim told a press conference.

Earlier, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng demanded to know why MACC had re-opened an investigation into a case involving a quarry linked to Fairus.

"Why do they (MACC) still want to request for the minutes of the past state executive councillors (Exco) meeting as the case has been closed?

"This is a very irresponsible and unprofessional act on the part of the state MACC which seems to be targeting Pakatan Rakyat (PR) members," he added. - + selanjutnya
