Selangor Govt. has failed to help Malay Indians

Kuala Lumpur, May 23 (ANI): The Selangor Government has failed to give the necessary economic aid and job opportunities to the Indian community in Malaysia, PJ Selatan PKR division deputy chief A. Thiruvenggadam said.

Accusing the Pakatan Rakyat administration of continuing to marginalise Indians, he blamed party leaders, including PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim and Selangor Mentri Sri Khalid Ibrahim, of not fulfilling the promises made during last year's general election.

In his statement published by Tamil Nesan, Thiruvenggadam said that no job offer had been made to the Indian community and no contracts allocated to Indian businessmen in the state.

He accused Pakatan leaders of repeatedly lying to the Indian community by promising them better things but not delivering.

The Star quoted him as saying that it was ironic that many Pakatan leaders were previously human rights defenders but were now ignorant of the community's plight.

He also challenged the state government to come up with statistics on what it had done to lift the status of Indians in the state. (ANI)- smashit
