SMS on typhoon hitting Malaysia a 'dud'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has denied claims in a SMS actively circulating here that strong winds would hit Malaysia tonight, and that Typhoon Parma would cause another havoc in the Philippines at midnight.

The SMS also urged the people to take the necessary precaution and stay indoors.

When contacted, an officer on duty with the department said the SMS, which claimed that the typhoon was travelling at 222km/h, was just a rumour and advised the public not to panic. - + selanjutnya
