Kugan case: Cops ordered to preserve specimens
PETALING JAYA: The High Court here ordered the police to preserve the DNA specimens and items seized from a forensic pathologist in the condition they are in now in the case of suspected car thief A. Kugan who died while in police custody.
Judicial Commissioner Yeoh Wee Siam made the ruling using the inherent powers of the courts in ordering the police to not interfere with the items and DNA specimens pending the disposal of the case.
Kugan’s mother made the application through her lawyer N. Surendran after the court postponed the hearing of their application for a judicial review of the Petaling Jaya Magistrates Court’s decision in issuing the police a search warrant on Universiti Malaysia Medical Centre’s forensic pathology department. - + selanjutnya
