Former deputy IGP Jaffar dies

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Jaffar Abdul, 77, died of intestinal bleeding at the Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre here today.

It is understood that Jaffar breathed his last at 5.09pm in the presence of his family members after being warded at the hospital's intensive-care unit three days ago.

His body was brought to the Bukit Aman Mosque for the funeral prayer before Maghrib and then taken to Parit Bakar, Muar for burial before dawn tomorrow.

Jaffar joined the Royal Malaysian Police as a probationary inspector in 1951.

He was made Deputy IGP in 1986 and retired three years later. - + selanjutnya
