Disgusting act in a holy month
Staronline
RACE and religion have been known to cause conflicts among the various communities in this country.
Surely after 52 years of independence, the various races should be more sensitive to each other’s cultures and norms.
We cannot allow such incidents where a group of Muslim protesters brought along a cow’s head to the office of the Selangor Mentri Besar to protest against the state government’s decision to relocate a temple to their area.
Let cool heads prevail and not let the disgusting behaviour of some make other races think that the majority of practising Muslims agree with the methods used by the protesters to highlight their grievances.
To think that the shameful incident occurred during the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims are taught to be more patient and tolerant, makes it sadder.
These disgruntled Muslims who partook in the protest do not have the spirit of fasting in their hearts.
Having said that, the state government should be proactive in solving sensitive matters such as relocation of temples.
