Decision time over Perak MB imbroglio

PUTRAJAYA, May 22 — The Perak mentri besar imbroglio is expected to be resolved within the hour as the Court of Appeal is set to decide on who is the legitimate MB.

The decision is based on an appeal by Barisan Nasional's Datuk Zambry Abd Kadir against a High Court ruling which pronounced his Pakatan Rakyat rival Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the MB.

The appellate court heard submissions from both parties yesterday.

However, the Court of Appeal decision is not expected to bring an end to the crisis in Perak as the parties can still appeal to the Federal Court.

This afternoon, security at the Court of Appeal was tight with police taking extra precautions in allowing people into the courtroom.

Court of Appeal judges Md Raus Sharif, Zainun Ali and Ahmad Maarop are expected to deliver their judgment at 3.30pm. - Minsider
