MCA rival supporters keep up verbal clash
KUALA LUMPUR: Supporters of the warring camps in the MCA held a flurry of media conferences to argue their cause a day after the party was plunged into greater turmoil following the revamp of the presidential council yesterday.
Newly appointed presidential council member Datuk Ti Lien Ker said the media had been misled into making headlines that suggested the party's "greater unity plan" (GUP) had failed or that there were abuses.
"Words uttered to the effect of ''chop, slash and burn'' are a distortion of reality. The dramatics of breaking down in public is a political drama," he said.
He was referring to the press conference held by vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai who was flanked by teary-faced Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun who were dropped from the presidential council. - + selanjutnya
