'We are not gangsters, we are Gelang Patah MCA members

JOHOR BAHARU: A group of more than 40 people who gathered in front of the Johor MCA building in Jalan Segget last Tuesday were not gangsters.

They were in fact MCA members from the Gelang Patah division and some non-governmental organisation (NGO) representatives who came to meet party deputy president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek, who was attending the central committee meeting held in the building.

"We are not gangsters and did not come to create trouble," said division chief Jason Teoh, refuting party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat's statement, branding the group a bunch of gangsters.

The statement carried by several Chinese dailies caused dejection among the group, especially the NGO representatives. - + selanjutnya
