Human trafficking taken seriously: Musa
Malaysia which has often been blamed and labeled as a transit country for human trafficking activities is said to be not serious in checking the cross-border crime.
This is far from the truth. Malaysia's problem is how best to safeguard the vast sea and land areas from being infiltrated by foreigners trying to escape poverty back home.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan said no country including Malaysia is willing to be involved in human trafficking as it is ''dirty'' and against human rights.
Inspite of this, human trafficking thrived as the geographic location and the strong economy meant that foreigners would continue to make Malaysia a transit country for the illegal trade.
Musa said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) were committed in fighting human trafficking and were planning several measures and cooperation with foreign countries to check the menace.- + selanjutnya
