Perception that RON95 can damage engine inaccurate

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat was told today that public perception that the use of the RON95 petrol could damage the car engine is inaccurate.

Deputy Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Tan Lian Hoe said if RON 95 petrol was sufficient for the car engine, the use of higher RON would not affect its optimum ability.

"Major car manufacturing countries like Japan, Europe and the United States also use RON95 petrol.

"In Europe, the use of RON95 petrol is 84 per cent higher than the overall use of petrol which is the main fuel for vehicles," she said in reply to Datuk Johari Abdul (PKR-Sungai Petani).

Johari had wanted to know whether the use of Petronas RON95 petrol, known as Primax 95, was suitable for imported and luxury cars as it could damage the engines. - + selanjutnya
